Of course, share your drawings! It's so great that you can illustrate your own Stack!
I heard a radio program on France Inter or Culture that mentioned the art competition in the earlier Olympics in Paris. I had no idea.
My daughter, like you, lives near Paris and is going to at least one event, and my other daughter is travelling from NYC to see several, and also see her sister and other friends. They were saying how their French friends are so "anti-Olympics" that they don't even want to tell them that they're going. Even though I'm not a huge Olympics fan, I think it's kind of sad to have come to that. I'm getting excited myself!
There’s always a bit of controversy about the Olympics. Some of the biggest issues in Paris at least is that they are using it as an excuse to deport asylum seekers. There’s also been issues around broken promises and the fact that some of the locals in the areas they are renovating are being hurt more than helped. And then there’s the general French blasé look about the whole thing and many wanting to leave. None of my French friends have tickets. Some wanted to but it was too expensive for them, others just don’t want to be here. A few are going to the Paralympics tho!
Love these drawings and would of course like to see more! I’m not surprised about the general attitude about the games from the locals. They can be quite disruptive to your daily life and not just for a few weeks. Let’s hope people can unite around the ideal of coming together as a whole
It all sounds very exciting! I hope the French are able to enjoy this opportunity of hosting the Olympic Games (Jogos Olímpicos – in my own mother tongue: Portuguese). I also hope that Parisians are able to be respectful towards others as they host such a massive event. The 2016 Olympics were in my own hometown (Rio de Janeiro) and it was an incredible experience. I recommend it! 🇧🇷✌🏼😄
